In Ian Fleming's 1953 novel Casino Royale, James Bond invents and orders a Kina Lillet martini, which he named the "Vesper" after his love interest in the story. He asks the bartender for a dry Martini, a fraction of a second later he adds to the order: "Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet."
Another gracious host on our sojourn down south: Cecile Bernhard!! She happens to be the manager of Lillet and filled us to the brim of this delightful drink to be enjoyed before dinner with good conversation.

As the afternoon progresses, our shadows grow longer. At night, in the dark, we become our shadows. That is true today as then. In the old days, people were aware of it, that's all. In the old days, the whole world was religious and full of interest.

Louis Kahn:
I once gave myself an assignment: to draw a picture that demonstrates light. Now if you give yourself such an assignment the first thing you do is escape somewhere, because it is impossible to do. You say that a white piece of paper is the illustration; what else to do? But when I put a stroke of ink on the paper, I realized that the black and white was where the light was not, and then I could really make a drawing, because I could be discerning where I put the black.
